I want to get you familiar with how things will work on sale day. There will be a short consignor's meeting just before the demo begins at 10am. But for those who will be busy, or can't make it, this page should cover all the things that will be announced at the consignor's meeting.
1. Order of go is explained on another document but basically this is how we are going to do this> a number will be drawn and that number will be the first horse sold. Then, ponies will be sold in the ascending order from that first number. This will make consignors have consecutive ponies being sold and in that case, three ponies will be put in between. To make things easier, we will have order of go posted early Saturday morning.
2. Stalls assignment and hip numbers are the same. If you have hip # 4, your stall is stall #4. Stalls will be assigned across from each other for consignors bringing more than 2 ponies. Just look on the stall doors for your stall/hip number. There will be cards hanging on the stall door with your hip # and pony's name. One bale of shavings will be in each stall. More can be bought if needed.
3. Demo: will begin at 10am Saturday Sept 29th in the outdoor arena. Classes will be as follows: no need to sign up, just be ready and all enter at the same time, walking on the rail. As your hip # is called, proceed to the middle of the arena and show off while information is being announced about your pony. Once the announcement is done, you go back to the rail. If you need to leave to ready the next pony, feel free to do so. Make sure the office staff has something you have written available to announce for your pony. The class list is as follows:
First: Ponies at least 24 months of age being shown in-hand
Second: Green Ponies being shown at walk only, or walk trot. If your pony will canter, but is green, you may enter this class and show your canter during the announcing of your pony's special attributes. If your pony does not canter yet, just walk or trot in the center of the arena while the announcer speaks about your pony. If you want to go over one or more of the jumps that are set up, you may do so. Again, if you must leave to ready another pony, feel free to do so.
Third: Ponies that are going walk, trot, canter pretty well. These ponies will be shown on the rail at the trot until your hip number is called. At that time you may come to the center and canter. There will be two small jumps set up in the center, you may use them at will. This class is for finished ponies as well as green ponies that are a little further in their training.
4. Once the demo is complete, there is ample time for prospective buyers to check each pony individually. Be prepared to answer questions stall-side, or trailer-side. Also be prepared to ride the pony again for prospective buyers. There will be several jumps set up in the outdoor ring for you to use as you wish. Everyone wants to sell their pony, so be polite and safe. No one is allowed in the covered arena, only the outdoor arena is to be used unless foul weather keeps us under cover. There is a vet on call for exams or health certificates: Large Animal Vet 919-554-1176.
5. Meal tickets are available in the sale office. $10 meal tickets will buy your lunch and allow you access to the open bar Saturday evening. $5 meal tickets will only buy your lunch with no access to the open bar later.
6. Please clean your stalls before you leave, even if you pony sells. The only way you will get your $20 refund on stalls is if your stall is clean, so clean it yourself.
7. Please check out with the sale office before leaving. Every pony leaving must have it's paperwork in order, hip numbers must be left on until after the pony leaves the barns. You need a release from the sale office to remove a pony, even if the pony did not sell.
8. Checks will be mailed within two weeks of the close of the sale. Those with paypal accounts can have their funds transferred directly if they desire. If you sell your pony at the sale, you will not recieve your money that day.
9. You are allowed to decorate your stall area. Please, no nails, staples etc being put in these stalls. This is a private facility, please respect their facility and don't do anything that is permanent or marring.
10. Be ready with your pony inside the staging area. The staging area is the area behind the auctioneer's table under the covered arena. As your pony becomes "on deck" (next) a sale staff member will approach you and help you through the process. You will be asked if you have a reserve. You just say "yes" or "no". Once the highest bid has been attained, you will be asked if you wish to "sell" or "no sale". If you choose to "no sale", we will ask you what is your bottom line for this pony. We will tell the bidders your reserve, and try to get them to that amount. If we can, you will sell the pony at that price. You do not need to tell the auction staff what your reserve is prior to the highest bid being secured.
11. You may handle your own pony during the auction or allow one of our handers to do it for you. You may present your pony under saddle, or in-hand during the actual auction.
12. Once the gavel has fallen, simply walk your pony back to the staging area and back to your stall or trailer. The buyer may or may not come to see you at that time. Continue to take care of your pony until you leave the sale site for home. You must check out at the sale office prior to leaving the sale grounds.
